- The client is a world leader in the production of high-performance feed for more than 45 different fish and shrimp species in over 80 countries.
- The client identified that to support the growing Australian and Oceania aquaculture industry they needed to have a local manufacturing presence.
- After reviewing locations, the client selected a site in Tasmania and initiated a project to construct a A$60M aqua feed production facility.
- Cromarty Automation was awarded the works to design, construct, install and commission the low voltage electrical system, the control system, the MES system and integrate into the client's global ERP system.
Solution
The project was highly complex and required the use of multiple skill sets. Cromarty Automation worked collaboratively with the client and the construction team to deliver the following:
- Electrical design of entire low voltage electrical system.
- Development of the plant control functional descriptions.
- Delivery and commissioning of all PLC control code and SCADA.
- Delivery and commissioning of the MES system and interfacing with the client’s global order. management and monitoring system.
- Supply and commissioning of all Motor Control Centre and VSDs.
- Integration of 3rd party supplied equipment.
- Delivery & commissioning the entire LV electrical distribution and control system.
- Hazardous area assessment and compliance.
- Safety system design and implementation.
- Pre-commissioning and final commissioning.
Outcome
After a 2-year building process, the facility was successfully commissioned. The factory machinery and control systems were commissioned through a dry and wet commissioning process, making the plant fully operational and meeting production targets to the client's timeframe. Following commissioning, Cromarty Automation has been actively engaged in supporting production and optimising manufacturing.
